In this thread I will teach you how to make a simple html page and some basic html tags.Other/Notes:
First off, start with this code:
<html>
</html>
Anything between those two 'tags', will be the content of your site.
Then, in between those, add:
<head>
</head>
Anything between those two 'tags' is what will be in the header of your page.
Then add
<body>
</body>
Under that. Now you should have something like this:
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
That is your basic HTML page. Now, to spice up your page a little, add a title using this code:
<title>TITLE HERE</title>
Anything you enter between those two 'tags' will be the title that will be displayed in the users window bar and top of their browser. Now, your page should look like this now:
<html>
<head>
<title>HTML Page</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
The we should add some text to the page. So try this code:
<html>
<head>
<title>HTML Page</title>
</head>
<body>
Hello World!
</body>
</html>
Now on the screen it will display the text 'Hello World!'.
Now, lets get funky with the text. Here are some tags
<b>THIS TEXT WILL BE BOLD!</b>
<u>THIS TEXT WILL BE UNDERLINED</u>
<i>THIS TEXT WILL BE ITALIC</i>
<center>THIS TEXT WILL BE CENTERED</center>
So try expirementing with those. Please make sure to read the notes as that contains some important information as well.
Tags are 2 parts. The starting tag such as <html> and a closing tag like </html> And whatever you want between those tags you put after the starting tag and before the ending tag.
To view your page you have created, use Notepad (Windows) or Simpletext (Mac) and enter the code there. Then to view it, save it, then type the address/url into your Web Browser.
HTML stands for:
Hyper Text Markup Language.
Also, please take note that your title will always be between the <head></head> tags and the text you want displayed will be in the <body></body> tags.
